The new edition of the standard requires some products to comply with the new standard NOM-003-SCFI-2014, as well as specific Mexican standards, such as:

2. NMX-J-521/1-ANCE: household appliances
3. NMX-J-038/1-ANCE: welding equipment

In addition, the new standard abolishes the lower voltage limit. All electrical products under 1000 V AC and 1500 V DC, whether they are supplied by municipal electricity or by other means, such as batteries, storage batteries, are applicable to the standard and require NOM certification.
The standards for seasonal and festival decorations will come into effect on May 27, 2017, and for electric toys under 24 volts will come into effect on December 27, 2016. All other standards will come into effect on May 27, 2016.
