It was first noted that cadmium was found in the cables of a number of game consoles sold in the Netherlands in 2000. In fact, a large number of electronics products in the production of solder, carton printing ink contain harmful heavy metals such as lead.
Standard announcement time:
The European Parliament and the European Commission issued the Directive on Restrictions on the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electronic and Electrical Equipment (RoHS Directive) in their Official Gazette on 13 February 2003.
The European Union will implement RoHS on July 1, 2006, when the limits of electrical and electronic products which use or contain heavy metals, PBDE, PBB and other flame retardants exceed the limits will not be allowed to enter the European Union market.
- Lead lead;
- Mercury mercury;
- Cadmium cadmium;
- Chromium (VI) six chromium.
Polybrominated biphenyls - Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB 's);
Polybrominated two phenyl ether - Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE 's).
The highest quota for testing items is:
Cadmium: content is less than 0.01% (100ppm).
Lead content in steel alloy is less than 3500ppm
Lead content in aluminum alloy is less than 4000ppm
Lead content in copper alloy is less than 40000ppm
Lead: (except for materials other than the three metal materials), the content is less than 1000ppm
Mercury: less than 1000ppm
The six valence chromium content is less than 1000ppm
Polybrominated biphenyl content is less than 1000ppm
Polybrominated two phenyl ether: content is less than 0.1% (1000ppm).
If the data corresponding to the test items exceed the standard requirements, the material does not meet the requirements of the RoHS regulations. It is prohibited to sell in the European Union.
RoHS2.0 regulation
On June 4, 2015, the European Union Official Gazette (OJ) issued the RoHS 2.0 Amendment Directive (EU) 2015/863, and the EU RoHS 2.0 update was finally settled.
Following the issuance of the revised directive, EU member states are required to translate the directive into national legislation and implement it by December 31, 2016. And from July 22, 2019, all electronic and electrical products (except medical and monitoring equipment) will be required to meet this restriction, and from July 22, 2021, medical equipment (including external medical equipment) and monitoring equipment (including industrial monitoring equipment) will also be included in the scope of control.

1, the number of test items increased from 6 to 10.
2, expand the scope of control products to all electronic and electrical equipment except special exemption:
- including eighth types of product medical equipment exempt from 2002/95/EC, Ninth types of product monitoring equipment;
Category 11 Products: All other electronic and electrical equipment, including cables and other components, which are not covered by Category 1 to 10 products.
3. Enterprises have to assume more and more responsibilities, more and more stringent requirements on their suppliers, the cost will increase.
